Barbara R. Merlie joined Rudolph Clarke in the spring of 2015 after working for 33 years as an attorney in Montgomery and Bucks Counties and prior to that in Washington, D.C.

A New Jersey native, Ms. Merlie relocated to Bucks County in 1989 to be closer to her extended family.

She is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania. Ms. Merlie practices in the areas of municipal law and land use and zoning. She has practiced previously in the areas of family law and civil and commercial litigation. While in Washington, D.C., Ms. Merlie concentrated in broadcasting, cable television and telecommunication matters.

Ms. Merlie’s favorite thing about her job is the opportunity to assist clients in a proactive way to facilitate the governing process.

Her most rewarding professional achievement to date was working with several government and private parties to preserve nearly 200 acres of open space known as the Angus Tract and the Sheep Tract of Erdenheim Farm in Montgomery County.

When she is not practicing, Ms. Merlie enjoys spending time with her family and friends and catching up on her reading.

Education

Ms. Merlie received her B.S. degree from College Misericordia in 1972. She earned her J.D. degree from the Columbus School of Law, The Catholic University of America, in 1981.

Community Memberships

Ms. Merlie served for a number of years on the Board of Directors of the Bucks County Women’s Fund, a public foundation that has since merged into the Women’s Advocacy Coalition.
