Rudolph Clarke, Conversations with Summer Interns: Carson Francis

Carson Francis Summer Interview

Carson Francis has been part of Rudolph Clarke, LLC for over two years. She started with the firm during the winter of her junior year from the University of Maryland and has returned each winter and summer since then. After graduating in May, Carson immediately resumed her role at the firm, transitioning from administrative tasks to more substantive legal work.

During her time at Rudolph Clarke, Carson has been deeply involved in various aspects of municipal law. This summer specifically, she has attended numerous public meetings, including Zoning Hearing Board meetings and Board of Supervisor meetings across Montgomery and Bucks Counties. These meetings have provided her with firsthand experience in observing and participating in the legal processes that shape municipal governance.

Carson’s role has also expanded to include significant hands-on legal work– conduct extensive research using Westlaw, draft deeds and resolutions, as well as legal memos. Throughout these projects– the attorneys at Rudolph Clarke review and provide feedback, which has given Carson invaluable skills to refine her expertise as well as and gain practical experience. One of the highlights of Carson’s internship has been the increased responsibility and involvement in legal writing. Although initially daunting, she has appreciated the trust placed in her to work on real cases that impact clients.

Carson has also enjoyed the social activities organized by the firm, such as barbecues, bowling events, and upcoming outings. These events have allowed her to interact with colleagues in a relaxed setting, fostering a sense of camaraderie and making her feel more comfortable in her professional role.

I’m really excited that I’ve been able to join the Rudolph Clarke team this summer as I start law school. I’ve enjoyed my summer, especially the mentoring I’ve received from Firm attorneys. As an aspiring attorney, the hands on experience I’ve been able to get this summer will be instrumental in my development as an attorney and really helped me start to ‘think like a lawyer.’”
