Rudolph Clarke, Conversations with Summer Interns: Graeme Brown

Graeme Brown is a dedicated law student with a strong interest in public interest law. A Philadelphia native, Graeme completed his high school and college education within the city of brotherly love and is now pursuing his law degree from Temple Law. Prior to joining Rudolph Clarke, Graeme worked in the City of Philadelphia’s Law Department, where he focused on municipal law– this experience fueled his desire to want to explore the legal field from a Firm’s perspective, leading him to Rudolph Clarke for his summer internship.

Where his previous role mainly involved tax assessment appeals, his current work at Rudolph Clarke spans multiple legal issues– Graeme has particularly enjoyed applying his first-year law school knowledge to real-life scenarios, especially in litigation. His tasks have included extensive research and writing, areas where his past experiences have allowed him to excel, as well as venturing into new territories like zoning law.

The supportive and collaborative environment at Rudolph Clarke has also been instrumental in Graeme’s growth within the firm. Despite considering himself shy, he has found the Firm’s friendly work environment, its monthly socials, as well as the encouragement to ask questions invaluable. This atmosphere, coupled with the ability to learn from experienced attorneys, has allowed him to further strengthen his confidence in practicing law.

“I’ve learned a lot in my summer at Rudolph Clarke, and I found that I really enjoy municipal law. The attorneys have given me the opportunity to see my work product discussed and approved at public meetings, and it was really exciting so see something I put together become official. There was one early project that I worked on that stands out. I had drafted a memo summarizing an application for one of the Partners, and I was surprised and proud when he read my summary out to the crowd in front of me. It was rewarding to know that my work was valued, and the support and guidance I received in that moment gave me confidence in my abilities and made me feel like part of the team.”
